Renegar Review: Replacing Callaway Wedges

The lowered leading edge of our lob wedge will make it your “go to” club for many of the more difficult short game situations, for shorter bunker explosion shots, and for lobs from very tight lies.

The lowered leading edge of our lob wedge will make it your “go to” club for many of the more difficult short game situations, for shorter bunker explosion shots, and for lobs from very tight lies.

Another new Renegar Wedge golfer has sent us his praises on our club….we are hearing over and over in reviews and while we’re out and about that our wedges are replacing more top name brands that have been in the bag for years.

Here’s the note from Craig:

I bought the 58 degree wedge and played two rounds with it this past weekend. On Saturday the first time I used the wedge on the course, I chipped it in for birdie from about 30 feet away.  I had practiced with the wedge before the round on driving range and chipping green and loved the feel of it.

I chipped very well the rest of the day with the new wedge. It creates lots of spin and a very good trajectory also. It was easy to adjust the face club to allow for less bounce or more bounce of the club face.

The Renegar Wedge replaced my Callaway X Forged 58-11 with the square groves. I was very pleased with the performance on tight lies (very short grass or no grass). It had no problem going through heavy grass also.

It looks like it will be about 75-80 yard club for me at a full swing. In Sunday’s round I chipped the ball several times within 2-3 foot for easy pars.

I was very impressed with the Renegar shipping also. I ordered the club on Wednesday evening and it arrived on Saturday morning (normal shipping fee).

I was kind of concerned with the wedge having a graphite shaft (I play with steel shafts) but the shaft performances very well on a full swing and I could control it very well. I could fade or draw the ball with the wedge.

My handicap is a 12. My normal shot trajectory is a low fade, but can also create a low draw.

Just received a 56 degree today .was a little sceptical about what the weight would be as i prefer a heavier wedge club arrived quickly ( fedex 2 day ) very nicely packaged and padded. Nice touch and YES it has A nice weight like my Vokeys. Gonna go try it out at the range tonight but all looks pretty good so far. VERy nice quality feel. Only small thing is not crazy about the “up” lettering on the shaft but this may not even be noticable when in use We’ll see how it does. More later :)
