Another Happy Renegar Customer

The lowered leading edge of our lob wedge will make it your “go to” club for many of the more difficult short game situations, for shorter bunker explosion shots, and for lobs from very tight lies.

The 58 degree wedge from Renegar

Gary from Tulsa, OK wrote us a couple of weeks ago with a review of our wedges. He obviously put a lot of thought into his letter and puts a lot of thought into his game.  We wanted to share it with you.

I am a 9 handicap and have played golf for over 30 years but didn’t really get serious about my wedge game until about 12 years ago, when I purchased a matched set of Cleveland 588 wedges. After about 7 years, I switched over to a set of Vokey spin milled wedges. Although I felt comfortable with both of these wedge sets, I never felt any special connection with them. They performed well enough and were gapped right to match my irons, so I was happy.

I first learned of your wedges via a commercial on the Golf Channel this past spring, and checked out your website. About the same time, I was transitioning to a new set of irons that would require me to buy a new set of wedges to preserve the loft gapping (since I do use my sand/lob wedges as 12 and 13 irons on full shots). I really appreciated the detail provided by your website regarding the technologies and design incorporated into your wedges, and long story short, I bought 54 and 58 Renegar wedges to match my new irons instead of the new Vokeys I was planning on getting.

I wanted to play with the wedges for awhile in order to fully evaluate them, and so here we are about 5-6 months post purchase, and I am writing to tell you how pleased I am with them. I appreciate everything about them–the unique sole design, the black oxide finish, the graphite shaft, the unique grip—they all work together very well. I think the graphite shaft really helps with the feel of the club and the ball flight is great. They are a pleasure out of the sand and they perform very well on full shots as well. Distance and accuracy are very consistent as well.

I would have to say, if someone took away my Renegar wedges and lined up a new set of Cleveland, Vokey and Renegar (wedges), and then asked me to pick one set—free of charge—I would pick the Renegar wedges all over again. I really think you have a fantastic wedge here, and if someone can look past the marketing hype of the big names and give yours a try, I think they would be pleased as well. Thanks again for a great product—I look forward to using these for quite a while.

Thanks Gary! We certainly feel the same way at Renegar. Keep spreading the word to your friends and let us know how your short game continues to improve!

Bill in Tallahassee Tells Us How the Renegar Wedge Works for Him

Bill works on his short game with his Renegar Wedge

Bill works on his short game with his Renegar Wedge

It’s a good week to hear from our customers!
We had an opportunity this week to ask one of our recent customers some questions about his golf game and his thoughts about the Renegar Wedge he added to his bag.  Bill L. plays golf a minimum of twice a week. He lives in the perfect state for year round golfing, Florida. Here is what he had to say.
Age:  47
Handicap:  13
Favorite golf course I play the most is Hilaman located in Tallahassee Florida.
Favorite golf course out of all that I have played, Pinehurst #4.
What club you replaced with wedge:  Ram Tour Grind 52 degree
How do you feel about the graphite shaft on a wedge:
I am one of those guys who take a decent sized divit when hitting clubs, I have tried graphite shafts on irons only to snap them just above the hosel.  I have never had luck with graphite shafts. However, this graphite shaft seems to be very durable and can take a beating. I likethe fact that it doesn’t flex like your typical graphite shaft.
Overall thoughts:
I am here to say that I am very happy with the Renegar 52 degree wedge.  On shots 100 yards in I am spot on.  I have no fear of flying over trees because I get great height out of this wedge. I still need more practice on the shorter chip shots, but my confidence level from 70 – 100 yards has increased with this club.

What Did this South Carolina Golfer Think of His New Wedge?

Ron S. trying out his new Renegar Wedge at Heritage Club in Pawleys Island

Ron S. trying out his new Renegar Wedge at Heritage Club in Pawleys Island

Do you like to hear what golfers think of the Renegar Wedge? We do. It helps us know what is working for our customers.

Our latest review is from Ron S. in Laurens, SC.  He recently started playing with the 56 degree Wedge and is really enjoying  the club. He replaced a sand wedge that he was using around the greens for chip shots. The graphite shaft is working well for him.

Ron is 62 years old and has been playing golf since his early 20′s.  He plays regularly at The Lakeside Country Club in Laurens. You can catch him out there with his golf buddies every Wednesday and any other day he can squeeze in. There are golfing advantages to being semi-retired!  His handicap is 19.  His favorite course is the Heritage Club in Pawleys Island, SC. When we heard from him he told us he really loved the technology and the new approach to wedges. He went on to say:

Since switching to the 56 degree wedge I have been able to stick the ball close to the pin from 30 yards or closer. I have recommended this club to my playing partners.

Thank you Ron for letting us know how the club was playing for you! Tell those golfing buddies you have told about Renegar to jump on over to the Renegar Golf website and buy a club, then write us and let us know what they think.

Renegar Golf Helps this Golfer Win His Tournament

52 degree Gap Wedge

52 degree Gap Wedge

Sometimes a letter comes along that reaffirms our mission and why we do what we do each day.  Jack Gilbert, President of Renegar Golf recently had some email and phone conversations with Reggie, a new customer, regarding his order. Reggie then sent the below note to Jack.  We hope to havea picture soon of Reggie with all of his new Renegar Wedges!

Jack,

Thank you for the update. I was anxious to try your wedges so I went for the 52° since you had them in stock.

Before I comment on the wedge, let me say that it was nice to speak to someone who was obviously intimately involved with the business when I had a question about my order (somehow it was crossed with another order and it was cleared up in a timely manner).

Now, about the wedge. I knew that theoretically the design features should address the difficulties I have had with my wedge play, but I couldn’t imagine the positive impact on my game. Where formerly my 52 was in my bag because it filled the space (although I was never really comfortable with it) this 52° wedge has become my choice for all wedge shots including those where I would normally go to my 56 and 60. I could go on, but I really just want to say thank you.

I’ve placed high in the tournaments (Golfweek AM Tour) since having the wedge, and yesterday, my win in a sudden death playoff I directly attribute to my confidence to hit the shots I needed because of how this wedge has treated me since I began using it.

During the playoff, a friend and fellow competitor witnessed me deviate from my regular game strategy which was to go to the Renegar wedge for all wedge shots. On two occasions I went with my sand wedge and 60 because they should have been the appropriate shot, both times with less than desireable results. On the third hole, I finally went with the what had gotten me into the playoff, I used the wedge that had been consistently effective (my friend and I have come to call it my “magic wedge”). The 52° did not disappoint me and after the playoff, my friend asked, “when are you going to get the other wedges?” He knows my game well and even he recognizes that I play better with the Renegar wedge.

I apologize for my long winded note just to say “thank you” and I look forward to swapping out my other two wedges soon.

Best Regards,

Reggie

Reggie, we can’t wait to hear how your game goes once you have the other wedges in your hand! We are waiting for that picture!

Positive Reviews Continues for Renegar Golf

Renegar Ad

One benefit of the internet is the ability it gives a consumer to make an informed purchase. Brands cannot control everything that is said about them on the internet, which is a plus for the shopper. The purchaser can read unbiased reviews on websites not owned by the company they are purchasing from simply by doing a little research. It can also be a plus for a company with a well-made product that does something to help that consumer in some way or form.

Obviously, everyone at Renegar Golf thinks our wedges are well-made and can help a golfer’s short game. So it is great when we see posts like these from customers posted on other websites such as MyReviewsNow.

As always we would love to hear from you and your experience with a Renegar Wedge. Leave us a comment and we will get in touch with you and feature you here on the blog!

“An International Hiccup”

Robert D. trying out his Renegar Wedge

Robert D. trying out his Renegar Wedge

In June we had an “international shipping hiccup.”  No, no, our clubs were not confiscated in customs. New regulations on exports delayed shipping on all international orders. We worked as fervently as possible to learn the new process and get clubs to customers. We did not want our customers to wait on their orders! Robert D. from Granby, Canada was one of the customers whose clubs got delayed. We recently heard from him and he wanted to share his experience with everyone:

I have now had 3 of your wedges (50-56-60) for a month. From the very first day that I had them, I loved the way they have improved my game around the green, in the rough and in the traps. The 60 degree is my favorite.

I love the way I can get the bounce I want and hit flop shots, pitch shots and soft shots.

In the traps I had 12 of 14 saves at the start with the 60 and 56. Lately I am 5 of 10, but it is mainly because of my poor putting. I wish you would make putters. At first, the full swing shots seemed strange. They were always straight which is very good, but they felt not hit perfectly. I think it is because of the higher flex point, but I am not sure. After a while,I got used to it and I can’t recall missing a green from 120 yards in  the last month which usually happens once in a while to a 12 handicap. I don’t know why, maybe it is the firmer tip,  but the ball is always going straight and most of the time it sits near the hole. I get a lot of questions about my wedges because of the way they look and beacause of the results I get. In a few words, I love those wedges.

When I first got the clubs I asked a question via the internet to the company; I was hoping at best for an answer the same way. I was pleasently surprised a couple of days later when I got a phone call from Jack Gilbert the president of the company and Bob Renegar himself. They answered all my questions….talk about good service.

Following my e-mail and you and Bob’s phone call, I have now been playing with the clubs for a few weeks….. To say it in a few words, I am very satisfied with the clubs.

A Renegar Review from Across the Pond

Gregg M. Wedge Shots with his new Renegar Wedges

Gregg M. Wedge Shots with his new Renegar Wedges

Hearing from customers is a perk of working for Renegar Golf.  It is wonderful to know how you REALLY felt when you played your new wedge for the first time. We were extremely excited when we heard from Gregg M. about his purchase.  Gregg lives in Europe and he recently tried out his wedges for the first time.  He even took along a future golfer to show off the clubs to!

Thank you Gregg for sharing your story!

Hi guys,

Well, would you believe it but I finally have THE wedges! Gav happened to be in Nottingham today so I drove over to meet him and he handed me the package that he kindly collected in Edinburgh and brought down to Blighty with him- the one I’ve been so desperately waiting for.

So, new wedges in hand I headed straight for my golf club, desperately trying to remove them from the packing as I drove across town so that I could gaze upon them en-route. However, both Renegar and Ms Mort had wrapped them so well that I had to give up on that mission whilst driving and wait until I arrived at the club to borrow some scissors from the office. Then, scissors in hand I proceeded to spend the next fifteen minutes desperately trying to cut my way in, much to the amusement of the General Manager and the wife of the Head Pro! Maybe you guys should design prisons cos nobody was getting into or out of that packaging in a hurry! (So glad our shipping people know how to pack our clubs up for the overseas journey! We wouldn’t want a customer to get a damaged club.)

Finally, with bruised and dented fingers from frantic scissoring, I unveiled the hallowed clubs and immediately headed to the driving range where two of my best buddies were eagerly awaiting the my and the Renegar Twins arrival. Great looking and very positive feeling clubs, we all agreed.

And then we hit some balls. Were they worth all of the time, effort, hassle and expense…? Hell yeah!! Positive, confidence inspiring look at address, nice sound and feel on contact and a devine ball flight- high and accurate and stopped where it should. It was three ‘Yesses’ and they were through to the next round!

I then proceeded to hit a bucket of balls, working on the various distances I could achieve with each club and was incredibly pleased with their and my(!) performance. Practice was interrupted for thirty minutes as I had to feed Poppy (see there is our future golfer getting a close-up view)  but when I resumed, I was again hitting lovely flighted, very accurate shots in.

Renegar Golf and the next generation of golfers

Renegar Golf and the next generation of golfers

Next off I headed to the practice putting/chipping green and hit some chips in from between 1-15 yards away from the edge of the green with the flag probably about another 5 yards on, sloping right to left so that you have to accurately judge your landing spot and pace of roll out to curve the ball in on the ‘borrow’. Again, I was amazed at the results with the wedges and I’ve attempted to attach some pictures to this message so that you can see just how much they helped this 21 -ish handicapper achieve. Bear in mind that the grass was soaking wet having had torrential rain for days and serious flooding in the area only the day before and the fact that I didn’t have a towel with me so the club face also remained wet throughout.

Jack, your company logo of ‘Shorter putts guaranteed.’ is very apt and I can see these wedges helping me to seriously cut shots from my handicap over the next few months. I can’t wait to get out on the course and play a proper round with them.

If they perform as well for me out on the course as they did today in practise, I would definitely invest in a couple more- probably a 48 degree to replace the pitching wedge from my custom fitted Cobra S2 set & a 50/52 degree gap wedge.

Cheers!

Gregg.

Gregg, also asked in his letter if we had a European distributor yet so he could get his hands on our clubs more quickly. We are talking with some groups and will certainly let everyone know any progress we make!  Thanks again Gregg for sharing your experience with us and let us know how your golf game is one you have the opportunity to play them a few times!

A Short Story: Finding the Magic Club with Renegar Golf

Renegar Wedges can get you closer to the hole. Photo credit: © Deklofenak - Fotolia.com

Renegar Wedges can get you closer to the hole. Photo credit: © Deklofenak - Fotolia

The below review is from an email we received on July 5 from John Cowley of Spring Hill, TN. Thank you John for sharing your experience with Renegar Golf. Here’s to many more “magical days.”

Ok, all you duffers like me HEADS UP.

Let me tell you my story about the Renegar wedges. I live near nashville and Renegar Golf has their office here. I had seen a video from a Revolution Golf promo on the new design, etc. My first impression was “yeah, sure, another grab and go.” Well, I am a 65 year old fella from the country and play only a few times a year so I need a ll the help I can get. I’ve tried different clubs, all to no avail, but still looking for that magic club. Now maybe this is a first time out for the year fluke, or 4th of July magic in 100 degree weather, but this my story and I’m sticking to it.

July 3rd and Jack, from Renegar Golf, stayed late for me to pick up two wedges a 52 and 60. If you don’t play much golf  or play  a lot, you know that the short game around the green is probably the toughest part to master. I’ve always been lousy here. Know well how to chunk the ball short or skull it over the green to take two, maybe three, shots to get out of a bunker. The main reason I normally shoot 100+(stop laughing).

On the second hole I was about five feet off the green in short rough and 30  feet from the pin. After record temps and it being a hot 90 degrees at 8 a.m. on the 4th, the greens were fast. Here we go, will I dribble it, hoping to get on, or pop it over the green. I could see the fellas snickering without looking at them. I pull out the 52 wedge. I might as well test it out. Put my feet close together and slightly facing the green. At least I’ll look like Tiger on the approach (lol). Open the face just a tad like you see on McLean’s video (I watch them all), keep my head down and stroke the ball. Hummm, felt good so I look up and the ball is actually rolling toward the hole.

Five feet from the hole and I am happy; then four feet, feeling better; three feet and I’m ecstatic; two feet does it have a chance; a foot and still rolling, then I hear that television expletive, we are all tired of, from one the guys “get in the hole.”

Nah, not me, I only hear that when I have a two foot putt. At least it is close, but still rolling. Closer, closer and drops in the hole. Beginners luck, but happy.

Two holes later I am in a familiar spot, green-side bunker. Okay, I do have a sand wedge in my bag, but the bunker is not too deep and the pin about 40 feet away so why not? Pull the 52 again and step in. Dig in, open face, just had watched a Phil Mickelson YouTube (video) on it and blast out. Surprised, I did not see the ball in the bunker for my second attempt.

I look up and there is the ball racing toward the hole. Will it happen again? Have I found that magic club? Has Renegar Golf made me a pro?

Closer to the hole it goes but stops about 5 feet away. I am so excited, I even make the putt.

My best round ever is an 89 (get off the ground and stop laughing again), I am an old man (now I am grinning). I told you I’m a country boy and not used to this kind of pasture. I scored a 91 and am still smiling. I will admit that I only used the 60 a couple of times and must get over my fear of flying the green and go ahead and swing the club, but right now I am a Renegar Golf convert. I plan on replacing my Pitching Wedge 48 and Sand Wedge 56 when I get a couple extra bucks, but at $159.99 with a $25 coupon (may not currently be available) you should consider buying one or more if you want to improve you game. Wish they made a 45 and I’d replace my 9 iron too.

Thanks Jack for staying late. The wedges made a hot day cooler.

Review: Did the Design Difference Improve this Golfer’s Game?

Jason C. tries out his new Renegar Wedge

Jason C. tries out his new Renegar Wedge

Thank you Jason C. for sending in the GREAT review! No, I don’t  just think it is great because he loves the RX12 wedges. It is great because in it he addresses so many of the concerns other golfers have before they have tried a Renegar wedge. You really looked at your new wedge from every angle and this will benefit a lot of curious golfers out there!

Name:  Jason C.
Age:  36
Started Golfing:  12 yrs ago
Favorite Course:  Julliete Falls, Dunellon, Florida
Handicap:  10
Wedges Replaced:  Titelist spin milled Vokeys

The first thing I noticed about the wedge was the sleek dark finish and the white Aldila DTS tour control graphite shaft. I prefer a dark or rusted finish on my wedges because it reduce glare and is just overall more pleasing to the eye. I will admit there was a little skepticism about a graphite shaft installed in a sand wedge, but it works. Most OEM wedge manufacturers install the typical, board like True Temper S400 which is way too stiff and heavy for 90% of golfers. The Aldila shaft not only brings the swing weight down for those touchy little chip shots, but out performs the OEMs shafts on full shots.

Finally a company and designer who is committed to improving the most pivotal scoring shots in golf, the wedge game.

On the course, the clubs performed flawlessly on full shots, approaches, and the deep rough – particularly from dewy grass. I was able to control the trajectory, spin and distances more easily than I could with my former wedges. The sole grind was especially pleasing. It didn’t get in the way when I opened the face a little, nor did it bounce excessively off of tricky hardpan lies-yet it allowed me to hit explosion shots out of bunkers with e

se and confidence. The RX12 performed with great precision, accuracy and most importantly feel.

I personally am very picky about my wedges and it would take a drastic improvement in performance and feel to make the switch.

The bottom line is these wedges outperform anything I’ve ever played.

The patented sole design and lower leading edge will give golfers of all skill levels the confidence to pull the trigger on those unpredictable tricky wedge shots (knockdowns, high  lobs, punches) while providing superb spin control on short shots around the greens, from the rough and out of bunkers. In fact I’ve finally replaced my beloved Titleist Vokeys with the RX12 wedges and have no regrets. These wedges are consistently accurate and belong in the hands of players who demand control and accuracy from their scoring clubs.

Check out the video  below of Jason using his wedge.
